VI TUSSER FOR DYRENE

with the world wildlife fund

helping endangered species through permanent art.

WHAT IS IT?

From 17th to 24th of May, tattoo artists all over Denmark will tattoo endangered animals and donate the proceeds to WWF's work to look after them.

what species are endangered?

The world's wild animals and what they symbolize have always been a large part of tattoo culture. Unfortunately, our wild animals are becoming extinct faster than ever before. In fact, more than 44,000 animal species are threatened with extinction if we don't help them.

“i didn’t hesitate for a moment to support this amazing and important fundraiser for endangered species, and i am immensely proud that i could perpetuate my love for the worlds‘s animals and attention to the nature crisis we are in, which for me is symbolised in the sea turtle. i have been privileged to experience the sea turtle in its natural habitat, which unfortunately also showed why they’re endangered. we can only point our fingers one way and that towards ourselves.”

"I have chosen to support the campaign, as it is of great importance to me to be able to make a contribution to the animals and also get a nice tattoo out of it as a daily reminder that we must think more about the protection and welfare of the animals. I have gotten a Japanese crane, grus japonensis, which, in addition to being a very rare animal, is unfortunately also an endangered species. The Japanese crane has a lot of symbolism attached to it in Asia, including longevity, which goes against the declining population we otherwise see with the Japanese crane."

I have always loved the turtle whether it was in water or on land. It's an incredibly unique animal if you ask me. I myself have a small Greek tortoise Doni at home and a few years ago I got ivy as a Christmas present. She is a great beauty sea turtle, which was ridden by an organization that makes a big effort for sea turtles worldwide. By donating to them, you adopt one of the many sea turtles they nest. I've always known I should have immortalized this unique animal on my body, and when I saw your campaign "we care about the animals" I knew now was the time!

“I have chosen to take the Galapagos penguin and support this type of penguin, when I was a child on one of my first holidays, I met these types of penguins, and from then on it was just my favorite animal - so it is both a dear childhood memory and a animals that I thought were the coolest in the world.”

- christian // animal: spheniscus mendiculus

“I saw this campaign through an influencer and the concept caught my eye right away! I read a bit about it and started researching which tattoo artists were there and came across you, who I already followed (and love your work), so I thought it was a bit meant to be.

And why I chose the sea turtle was because I have always been a real water dog, so I knew it had to be an animal that lived in the water! And then I just think a sea turtle can give good vibes like summer and warmth - which is something we all like and which should make us take extra care of them.”
